The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) offers two options for those non-majors interested in taking courses for either an Area of Special Interest (ASI) or for a Minor in mathematics.
Students interested in getting an ASI in mathematics may choose either an ASI in Computational and Applied Mathematics or in Mathematical Sciences depending on whether their interests are more applied or theoretical in nature.

Similar to an ASI, students interested in getting a minor in mathematics may choose either a minor in Computational & Applied Mathematics or in Mathematical Sciences.
For the Minor in Computational and Applied Mathematics, in addition to taking those courses listed for an ASI in Computational and Applied Mathematics, a student should take an additional 6 credit hours (2 courses) from the following courses:
