The flowchart below lists all required math courses numbered 300 and above with arrows indicating prerequisites. This is not intended as a list of all required courses but rather an indication of the breadth and depth of material covered as part of the Statistics option.
Overall, all Statistics majors must take at least 37 credit hours of statistics courses.
In addition to the core, students must take an additional 6 credit hours of elective MATH courses (as indicated by the "MATH-***" entries in the flowchart above). Possible electives within the Statistics area of emphasis include MATH-436 Advanced Statistical Modeling, MATH-437 Multivariate Analysis, or MATH-438 Stochastic Models, as well as any other appropriate course with departmental approval.
Also in addition to the core course requirements, students must earn an additional 13 hours of free electives. Unlike the Statistic Electives, these elective hours are not restricted to courses within the department but rather may be used for minors or majors with other departments or simply to take classes that you find interesting.
