Graduate Programs

The faculty and facilities at Mines are world class. I especially like the fact that the student body population is not too big. It allowed for much more personal attention from the faculty and staff. The intimate atmosphere is also reflected by the town of Golden. I can't imagine a better school in a better community and location. Everything about Mines allowed me to focus intensely on my education and research with no other difficulties or distractions.

Jeff Boleng, Ph.D., Deputy Head and Associate Professor of Computer Science, US Air Force Academy.

The Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) department at CSM is devoted to education and research in both Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Graduate programs are offered that lead to either the MS or PhD degree.

The master's program is designed to prepare candidates for careers in industry or government or for further study at the PhD level. The PhD degree program is sufficiently flexible to prepare candidates for careers in industry, government, and academia. A course of study leading to the PhD degree can be designed either for the student who has already completed the MS degree or for the student who has completed just the bachelor's degree.

The department maintains a state-of-the-art computing environment, which includes both Linux- and Windows-based laboratories, both of which provide access to many mathematical and statistical software packages.

CSM is located in Golden, Colorado, which is located at the foothills of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. It is within easy driving distance to metropolitan Denver, Boulder, some of the world's best ski resorts, and both national and state parks.
