Congratulations to Jordan Pettyjohn, who won first place in the Undergraduate Student Research Competition at the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC24), held in Atlanta GA November 17–22!
Jordan’s research project, entitled “Mind your Manners: Detoxifying Language Models”, focused on identifying and mitigating toxic output generated by large language models (e.g. ChatGPT). Jordan is a combined BS/MS student at Mines, working with Drs. Daniel McKenzie and Samy Wu Fung in the AMS department.
