The Colorado School of Mines has achieved its highest ranking in recent history at the 86th William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. Finishing 43rd out of 487 universities across North America, Mines secured the top spot in the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
The Putnam Competition is widely regarded as the most challenging undergraduate mathematics exam in the world, with a median score this year of only 2 out of 120.
