Mathematical Biology Research Group
The mathematical biology group meets on a biweekly basis to share and discuss current mathematical biology research being conducted here in the AMS department at Mines. We use mathematical and statistical modeling, analysis, and computational simulation to explore a variety of biological processes. These include, but are not limited to:
- in-host viral dynamics
- sleep and circadian rhythms
- biofluid dynamics and biochemistry of blood coagulation
- microorganism motility
Our group is led by professors Cecilia Diniz Behn, Karin Leiderman and Steve Pankavich, and consists of graduate students, postdocs and faculty in AMS. We work in collaboration with several experimentalists at Mines and other institutions, and our work is supported, in part, by grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
